The ancient forest is steeped in history and heritage and the beautiful woodland paths and spectacular scenery from the saddle will captivate novice and experienced riders alike. From the shores of Lough Corrib, Lough Mask and into the mountains of Connemara to the west, the area couldn’t be more magical for riding. Situated within easy walking distance of the castle, trail rides and lessons are available for all ages and abilities and are accompanied by an experienced guide.
Trail riding
From one-hour trail riding to half-day or full-day rides for the more experienced, we will match each rider to their horse and offer a little tuition before heading out on the trail.
Private lessons
Riding lessons for all abilities are available in the indoor and outdoor arenas - perfect for those who are starting out or those who want to improve.
Pony rides
A pony ride is a perfect introduction for little ones aged four and over. Starting in the arena then progressing outside, ponies are led at all times by a guide on foot.
Private lesson
€200 per single adult for a 45-minute private coaching session
€3,500 for a private full-day horse riding experience for up to six people. For experienced riders only, subject to availability, and has a 7 day cancellation period.
Trail riding
€200 per single adult for one hour, some riding experience required
€360 per single adult for two hours, must be confident and proficient in riding
€610 per single adult for three hours, must be confident and proficient in riding
€110 per single child for a 30-minute pony ride (under 12)
We offer a full day horse ride that is suitable for advanced riders where we ride into the foothills of the Connemara mountains before coming back through the forest planted by the Guinness family passing the shores of Lough Mask and Lough Corrib. There is an option for a pub or picnic lunch.
