London, 13 August 2015 – The Red Carnation Hotel Collection (www.redcarnation.com) today announced that its latest property, the historic, five star Ashford Castle in the West of Ireland (www.ashfordcastle.com) has been awarded one of the luxury travel industry’s top awards, ‘Hotel of the Year’ at the Best of the Best Awards by Virtuoso, at a ceremony in Las Vegas last night.
Each year, Virtuoso travel agents vote for their favourite luxury hotels from a portfolio of nearly 1,100 properties around the world. Virtuoso’s Best of the Best awards recognise excellence in ten categories ranging from hotels, restaurants and bars to spas, family programmes, sustainability, and more.
Niall Rochford, General Manager at Ashford Castle stated;
"On behalf of Ashford Castle and Red Carnation Hotels we are thrilled to have been awarded one of the luxury travel industry's top awards, Virtuoso Hotel of the Year. It is fantastic recognition of the exciting journey Ashford Castle has been on over the last few years and all the hard work that has gone into the $75 million restoration by the Tollman family and all the team at Ashford. The three-year programme, much of which was carried out by local craftspeople, has seen Ashford Castle restored as one of Ireland's most luxurious hotels as well as one of the best in the World.
Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of Red Carnation Hotels added;
We are delighted for Niall Rochford and his wonderful team at Ashford Castle. This prestigious accolade is a credit not only to Niall and his team but also to the wonderful work of our Founder and President, Mrs Beatrice Tollman and her brilliant design team who have helped to bring Ashford Castle to new luxurious heights. It is also a great endorsement of the training, development and investment in staff which has enabled us to offer even greater attentive and highly personalised service to guests visiting Ashford Castle."
