 Cong Food Village Festival

Cong Food Village was set up to showcase the very best local suppliers and producers, all of whom are celebrated at the annual Cong Food Village Festival. Whether it’s the delectable baked goods from Devour Bakery, fantastic pork from Andarl Farm or Velvet Cloud’s handmade sheep’s yoghurt, visitors to the three-day event will have a chance to discover and sample Cong’s finest food and drink, much of which is incorporated on the menus at Ashford Castle.

 Close to the pretty seaside village of Spiddal, Traidphicnic is a weekend festival of traditional Irish music, arts and crafts. The event takes place at Spiddal Craft and Design Studios and visitors can enjoy live music performances, take part in craft workshops led by skilled artisans, or simply soak up the picturesque surroundings.

Summer Galway

 Galway International Arts Festival

 Billed as one of Europe’s leading arts festival, this major event is a multidisciplinary extravaganza of theatre, opera, dance, live music, visual arts and thought-provoking discussions. This year marks the 41st birthday of the festival and the programme includes performances by Grammy award winners The Flaming Lips, Madness and the Irish National Opera, who will be debuting their production of Orfeo ed Euridice.

 Omey Races

A horse race on an idyllic Irish beach is certainly worth seeing at least once in your life. Omey Races take place each summer on the strand between Omey Island and Claddaghduff, which appears at low tide. This fantastic spectacle includes up to nine races and attracts both Connemara locals and visitors to the area.

5th – 6th August 2018

Summer Galway

 Inishbofin Maritime Festival

 Charming and unspoilt, this small island off the coast of Galway hosts a sailing regatta for historic vessels as well as yachts. The two-day event includes plenty of traditional Irish boats, such as currachs and pucans as well as sailing dinghies and kayaks.

 10th – 12th August 2018

 Galway Heritage Week

 Explore the history and culture of Galway courtesy of the weeklong National Heritage Week programme. The schedule includes a wide range of events, from interactive workshops to expert led talks on local subjects such as the history of the Connemara pony. Furthermore, with events located throughout the region, there’s plenty of opportunity to dip your toe into the fascinating heritage of Galway.
