Team Building and Development

Ashford Castle team-building days are like nothing you’ve experienced before. Here on the magnificent Ashford Estate, our group activities teach centuries-old skills and long-standing Irish traditions. Our outdoor challenges range across 350 acres of County Mayo countryside, including Lough Corrib and the River Cong. And the rewards for your team’s hard work are just as exceptional. Relax on a luxury lake cruise, let our sommelier guide you through our 16th century wine cellars, or enjoy a banqueting menu that showcases the best County Mayo produce.

We’ve created team-building activities that help you and your colleagues develop new skills, build confidence and strengthen relationships.

Ultimate Team Retreats

Exploring the castle grounds on horseback offers a unique view of the Ashford Estate. We can help first-time riders get to grips with the basics, while more experienced guests can tour the grounds on a supervised half-day riding trail. After mastering equestrian skills, pay a visit to Ireland’s School of Falconry in the castle grounds. Come face to face with birds of prey, and learn to fly them over the beautiful Ashford Estate. Finally, put your focus and coordination to the test at Ashford Castle’s archery range.

Our outdoor adventures test stamina, courage and team skills. Take to the waters of Lough Corrib or the River Cong for a raft-building challenge or a kayaking trip. In the Ashford Estate woodlands, climb and abseil down ancient trees, or get your adrenaline pumping on our forest zip-line. For a longer challenge that ranges across the estate, put your map reading skills and teamwork to the test on an orienteering experience.

From Bingham and Browne to Guinness and De-Burgo, generations of Ireland’s gentry have enjoyed sporting pursuits on the Ashford Estate. Our all-weather tennis courts offer a superb surface in wonderful surroundings, and Golf is played on our wonderful nine-hole, 2,996 yard, par 35 parkland course, designed by prominent Irish golf architect Eddie Hackett. For something a little different, put your team’s marksmanship to the test in a clay pigeon shooting session – an iconic country pursuit that feels right at home in Ashford Castle’s historic grounds.

Indulgence comes as standard at Ashford Castle. Enjoy a more leisurely view of our surroundings with a luxury yacht charter on Lough Corrib. Let expert guides bring the area and its traditions to life and lead you around the lake’s enchanting islands. Before dinner, visit our recently discovered 16th Century wine cellars for a private tasting session led by our sommelier. Then head to one of our restaurants. Finish your evening in style with drinks in the Billiards Room and on the adjoining Cigar Terrace.
